Nationals lose to Braves 13-9: 6/22/19

The Washington Nationals lost the Atlanta Braves Saturday evening at Nationals Park in regular season action. The Nats record currently stands at 37-39. The Braves move to 45-32.

Anibal Sanchez pitched a very strong five innings for Washington. Sanchez allowed six hits and six strikeouts while pitching. Tanner Rainey allowed one hit and two strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the bottom of the first, left fielder Juan Soto singled to center, Turner scored, Soto thrown out at second, Eaton to third. Also, in the bottom of the first, Matt Adams homered to right (400 feet), Adam Eaton scored.

Additionally, in the bottom of the third, Soto tripled to right, Turner scored and Rendon scored.

At the bottom of the fifth inning, Anthony Rendon singled to right, Turner scored, Eaton to third. Also, in the bottom of the fifth, Soto hit sacrifice fly to left, Eaton scored. Finally, in the bottom of the fifth, Kurt Suzuki singled to center, Rendon scored, Adams to third.

At the bottom of the seventh, third baseman Anthony Rendon scored on Minter wild pitch, Adams to second on wild pitch by Minter.

With a loss to the Braves, the Nationals look forward to a win at 1:35pm. Pitching for the Nationals will be Austin Voth.
