Loyola’s Santi Aldama Selected 30th In NBA Draft

On Thursday night Loyola forward Santi Aldama saw his hard work pay off. The 6’11” sophomore was selected by the Utah Jazz in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft. Aldama was picked with the 30th pick and thanks to a trade he will head to Memphis to start his career. He is the first Greyhound to be drafted since Mike Morrison was taken by the Suns in the 2nd round.

In the 20-21 season Aldama averaged 21.2 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He was first team all Patriot League and was one of only two players to average 20 points and 10 boards in division one. Those numbers got Aldama 12th in points and 14th in rebounds nationally.

His size and ability to shoot the three makes him a prime candidate to be drafted. He shot 37% from the arc last season. Teams are looking for players that can be developed into players that can help them win. Good luck to Santi in his NBA career.
