Baltimore Orioles vs Los Angeles Angels Series Preview

LOS ANGELES– The Baltimore Orioles will head out west for a six game road trip after a disappointing ten game home stand where the Orioles won three out of ten games. Coming off their first series win since the beginning of April vs the Yankees, the Orioles won two out of three games vs the Detroit Tigers.

Game 1 Tuesday, May 2, 10:07 PM ET:

RHP Alex Cobb vs RHP Nick Tropeano

Coming off a series sweep at home against the New York Yankees, the Los Angeles Angels Nick Tropeano will look to get the team back on track vs a “surging” Orioles offense. Yes, I said surging, scoring over five runs in their past four games, Orioles offense is hitting a season high .260 AVG in the past seven games. Leading the way is Orioles star Manny Machado hitting .381 in the past seven games but others have started to perform as well. Pedro Alvarez is as hot as any hitter, hitting .294 AVG, 4HR, & 6RBI’s in the last seven games and has gave the Orioles a great spark.

Alex Cobb will look to keep the All-Star stacked Angles lineup in check and after losing his first three starts in the orange & black Cobb is still searching for his form after being a late signing. Taking on the Angels, Cobb is 2-2 with a 5.35 ERA in six career starts.

The Los Angeles Angels would usually have young phoneme Shohei Ohtani pitch but due to his sprained ankle the Angles plan to give him rest until the weekend series vs the Seattle Mariners.

Game 2 Wednesday, May 3, 10:07 PM ET:

RHP Dylan Bundy vs LHP Andrew Heaney

Orioles ace Dylan Bundy hopes to rebound from his worst start of the short 2018 season. Allowing career-high eight runs on eleven hits vs the Rays is one to forget for Bundy. Only facing the Angels once before, Bundy will be on a great stage to show the MLB world that he can pitch with the best of them and against a great lineup.

Good for the Orioles offense, Andrew Heaney has had outrageous numbers vs the Orioles in two carer starts he has a 7.59 ERA. The Orioles trio of Davis, Jones, and Machado have great numbers. Davis & Jones are hitting .333 AVG and Machado is hitting .500 off Heaney.

Game 3 Thursday, May 3, 10:07 PM ET:

RHP Chris Tillamn vs TBD

Coming off his best start of the season, Chris Tillman dominated the Detroit Tigers lineup. Tillman tossed seven scoreless allowing only one hit to a good lineup of the Tigers. Struggling to stay consistent Tillman hasn’t won back-to-back games since his 2016 season. One good note for Tillman facing the Angles is he has gone 3-0 with a 2.84 ERA in six starts against the very good Angles lineup.

Angles Batters vs Tillman:

Mike Trout- .167 in 12 AB

Albert Pujols- .267 in 15AB

Justin Upton- .167 in 6AB
