Washington Capitals Win Game Two of Stanley Cup Final

The Washington Capitals have finally won there first Stanley Cup game in franchise history in game two in Las Vegas tonight 3-2. The Capitals showed there teams true grit and played hard all night.

The Capitals started out the night letting in the first goal of the game after James Neal beat Holtby high glove for a 1-0 Golden Knights lead. The Capitals fought hard the rest of the period and something bad happened.

Evgeny Kuznetsov got cheap shot after Brayden McNabb left his feet and elbowed Kuznetsov in the head and shoulder and injured Kuznetsov who didn’t return to the game. He is lost with an upper body injury and we can all hope he’s ok and will be back this series. You can see clear as daylight McNabb left his feet and lead the hit with his elbow

Lars Eller stepped up big time filling in the role on the second line just like he did when the Capitals missed time with Nick Backstroms hand injury. Eller scored the tying goal with three minutes left in the first period that gave the Capitals momentum going into the second period.

The Capitals didn’t hold back in the second. The Capitals got to go on the power-play and took full advantage of it after Ovechkin blasted a puck by Fluery from a pass from Lars Eller who was filling in for Kuznetsov on the top power-play line.

A few minutes later Brooks Orpik scored his first playoff goal in two years, and his first playoff goal in four years! He displayed amazing grit all night blocking shots all night and finished the night with six hits. His goal was also listed as the games game winning goal.

Yea Shea Theodore scored a goal in the second period, but the Capitals played hard and kept the lead for the rest of the game. The Capitals killed a huge penalty in the third period and was short two players on the penalty kill, but they played well and smart to tie up the series and win the first Stanley Cup win in the Capitals franchise.

The Capitals wouldn’t have won the game without Braden Holtby. Holtby was the true Holtbeast tonight and stopped 37 shots for a save percentage of 94%. Holtby made a save near the end of the third period on Alex Tuch for probably the save of the year.

A weird bounce went off the boards to a Vegas forward who passed the puck to Tuch for a slam dunk goal to tie the game, but Holtby dove across the cress to stop the puck with his stick!

The Capitals are now tied 1-1 with Vegas with games three and four coming to DC! The Capital One Arena will be rocking and rocking the red. The Capitals need to take full advantage of there home ice and come away ahead of this series.
