Washington Capitals welcome the Colorado Avalanche to town for a Tuesday night showdown

The Washington Capitals are looking to bounce back from an overtime loss against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. Hendrix Lapierre played a low 7.25 minutes Saturday night and it looks like Connor McMichael is replacing him on the third line tonight. Alex Ovechkin looks to stay hot after scoring two goals against the Rangers and another goal against Tampa. This earned him the NHL second star of the week award. This could be a look at the Stanley Cup championship as the Avalanche are pre season picks to win the Cup. The Avalanche will be without two of their stars as Gabrial Landeskog is out on a suspension and Nathan MacKinnon is in covid protocol. The penalty kill has been looking strong so look for that to stay the same. Kuznetsov is looking solid as a penalty killer and it looks to be a solid bounce back season for the Russian star.
