UMBC and Binghamton’s exciting soccer game rematch

November 4th Showdown

This past Saturday on November 4th, the UMBC Retrievers and Binghamton Bearcats met again at Retriever Soccer Park. After ending their last game in a tie (2-2) they will finally be able settle the score between them. Will this match end in UMBC’s victory or will Binghamton sweep through to take the win?

First Half: Saves and Missed Goals

The game started off with both sides trading scores but they were not able to meet their goals. Taylor Calheira from UMBC almost had a goal at the 17th but it was saved by BING’s goalie, Dylan McDermott. The same went for Devin Heave who attempted a score at the 27th but it was saved by UMBC’s own goalie, Emigdio Lopez. These crucial saves from goalies on both teams cause the 1st half to end in a tie, 0-0.

Binghamton Breakthrough

Going into the 2nd half, each team made their substitutions and were set on bringing home the win. On the field, determination was shown from each player, clear with the many fouls and yellow cards that came with each play. Each team’s goalie was saving every shot to the net, showing their unwavering resilience and both teams’ unwillingness to surrender. It wasn’t until a shot from BING’s junior midfielder Billy Clark connected to make a goal at the 78th, putting the score at 1-0. UMBC attempted to score multiple times with the game reaching its end but were unable to get through BING’s goalie.

Finish & Farewell

As the final whistle blew, fans at the Retriever Soccer Park were able to watch a hard fought match between the UMBC Retrievers and the Binghamton Bearcats. The anticipation from their previous game that ended in a tie has been replaced with this decisive outcome. UMBC made a great effort in this match but Binghamton came out on top with the final score of 1-0. With this outcome the Retrievers have not made it through the America East Championships and will no longer be competing this season. Even with this the UMBC Retrievers had a great season with many amazing games and they will continue to do so in the future. Good job UMBC Retrievers and stay tuned for more in the future!
