Tigers Suffer Tough Road Loss in CAA Opener

Towson came up a bit short Saturday as they took a 25-17 Loss at the hands of the Stony Brook Seawolves.

Towson were the ones on the board first as they went nine plays on their first drive to get into the endzone. Kobe Young ran the ball 2 yards to get the touchdown, his First of the Year. But the Seawolves would answer right back on the next drive. Seawolves QB Joe Carbone would connect with Ray Bolden for a 24 Yard Touchdown to tie the game. Towson Kicker Aidan O’Neill would add a 29 Yard Field Goal to take the lead for the Tigers, The Tigers would lead after the First Quarter 10-7.

Stony Brook Kicker Alex Lucansky would Tie the game thanks to his 21Yard Field Goal midway through the second Quarter. Towson would drive down the field only to have to punt the Ball back to Stony Brook. Seawolves would start the next drive from the Towson 42 and would drive all the way to the endzone with Carbone throwing a 1 yard Touchdown to Cap off the drive. Lucansky  Extra Point attempt would not go through so at the half it was Stony Brook leading 16-10.

The Tigers would get the ball to start the second half to hopefully regain the lead. But that would not happen as QB Ryan Stover would throw 3 Straight Incompletions and the Tigers would have to punt the ball away. The next Drive the Seawolves would extend the lead by 3 points as Lucansky drilled a 42 yard field goal making the score 19-10 Seawolves. The Tigers would not give up as the drove 13 Plays and 60 yard to get a much needed Touchdown thanks to a 1 yard Run from C.J Wilson to put the Tigers within 2. The third would end with the Seawolves leading 19-17

Towson would go 3 and out again to start the 4th Quarter. The Tigers defense would hold SBU to another Field Goal making it 22-17 and would give the Offense another chance to regain the lead. But a costly Fumble would stop the Tigers from doing any damage as Kobe Young would get stripped and that would be recovered by SBUs Scarbrough. The seawolves would take over driving down the field taking another FG by Lucansky extending the lead once again. That’s all they would need as they hold off  the Tigers offense and forced them to Turnover on downs. SBUs QB Joe Carbone would only have to take a knee once to finish the Game.

Tigers are going to have a long week at practice as they will take on Villanova back at Unitas Stadium next Saturday. Their First Home Game in a Month. I will preview that game later this week!
