The Retrievers and Bearcats face off in soccer game

Last weekend the UMBC Retrievers went up against the Binghamton Bearcats, a team they’ve met often on the soccer field. The Retrievers have had a good record so far this season (7-3-5) while the Bearcats are faring a bit worse (4-9-3) but the result of a soccer game is never set in stone.

The game started off with Anthony Lazaridis from BING scoring a goal only 5 mins in which cause a stir from UMBC. The Retrievers came back with a fury, attempting to score many times but were not successful until late into the 1st period. Ryan Calheira managed to put a goal in BING’s net with an assist from Tyler Harry and Hans Nesheim, ending the 1st period 1-1.

After some substitutions from both teams, the 2nd period started up with both sides determined to win. No goals were able to hit their targets until Hans Nesheim from UMBC scored a goal against BING goalie Dylan McDermott late in the 2d half. With 10 minutes left to spare, the Bearcats flew into action and scored their own goal only 2 minutes after UMBC to tie the game once again. Jago Lott from the Retrievers attempted one last minute shot but it went out top, ending the game 2-2.

Although it looked like the Retrievers were clear to win, the Bearcats managed a last minute goal to tie the game, ending the match in a draw. With the timer hitting zero the game ended with a score of 2-2 tying the match. Both teams put their all into this exciting match and even with it ending in a tie, fans were still shown a good game.
