Spartans Outlast Tigers in Baltimore

Norfolk Runs Over Towson During Thriller in Baltimore.

A rainy day in Baltimore provided the back drop for the Towson Tigers and the Norfolk State Spartans. The result of the game was thrilling and came down to the end. Towson now falls to 1-3 and still looking to find some consistency on both sides of the ball.

The biggest story of the game was rushing attack of the Spartans, who carried the ball a whopping 54 times for 350 yards and threw just 2 passes in the 2nd half. The Spartans controlled the time of possession for the game with 13 more minutes than the Tigers.

The rain caused some problems in the passing game, especially for Norfolk State, as quarterback Otto Kuhns went 5-14 for 38 yards with a touchdown and interception. Wide receiver Aaron Moore threw a pass on a trick play for a gain of 55 yards. Their success game on the ground as they had a lot of guys chipping in. Kevon King and Otto Kuhns paced the Tigers with 99 and 98 yards respectively. Kuhns did add a touchdown on the ground as well as Jaylen White. Jayden Homouth and Aaron Moore were big in the passing game and Moore added a touchdown for his day through the air.

The Tigers had a chance to tie the game late but a last second pass from Nathan Kent was broken up and now Towson is staring down an 1-3 record.

Up next is today’s matchup with a New Hampshire team that is a lot better than their record indicates. Closes losses to Central Michigan and Delaware and convincing wins over Stone Hill and Dartmouth have them feeing confident.

Max Brosmer is off to a hot start with 1248 yards passing and 12 touchdowns with just 1 interception. Their ground game is led by Dylan Laube, who has 307 yards and 3 touchdowns on the year. He has also been a big factor in the passing game with 4 receiving touchdowns. He leads the team in receiving touchdowns with Logan Tomlinson right behind him.

Their defense has been stout at times and has had its fair share of struggles. They will look to rebound from allowing 40+ points against Delaware the previous week. Ryan Toscano has been having a big year and leads them in tackles with 28. Joe Eichman has been a ballhawk for them so far with 2 interceptions and 3 pass break ups. They will be key in a slowing down Towson’s offense and keeping them from doing damage.

Towson will have to score early and often to hang with New Hampshire and get back on track. GO TIGERS!!
