Revenge was Left on the Table; Navy Midshipmen’s Season Ends Early

Friday night was not full of fun and parties for the Navy Women Midshipmen, as they lost the first round of WNIT to the Virginia Tech Hokies.

At the half, Mids were up 35-24.

In the second half, in the final seconds, it came down to free throws, and defense.

With 9.4 seconds left of the game, Tech’s Taylor Emery put up a three-point shot to tie the game at 54. Then, Tech fouled Navy’s Hannah Fenske, who went 1-2 at the line, bringing the score to 55-54. On the inbounds, Emery put up the jumper for the final score of 56-55. Headed back down the court, Fenske had the opportunity to shoot, but was not squared up as the ball hit the backboard yet did not score.

The Mids held the lead for 36:25 of the game, and at one point in the second quarter led by 13. Majority of the numbers were pointing at Navy to win.
