Ravens QB Lamar Jackson missed second straight day of practice
For the second day in a row, Baltimore Ravens starting quarterback Lamar Jackson was not out on the practice field. The reigning league MVP popped up on the injury report for the first time this season on Wednesday with what is reportedly a “minor” injury. He was kept him out of Thursday’s practice for the same reason as well as a minor illness per NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.
According to ESPN’s Jamison Hensley, this marks the first time in Jackson’s three-year career that he’s missed back to back practices. He didn’t appear to have suffered any obvious injury in the Ravens’ Week Three win over the Washington Football Team.
Since Jackson and Head Coach John Harbaugh spoke with reporters on Wednesday morning before the team headed out to practice, neither mentioned that he would was dealing with an injury.
“It kind of falls in the it-is-what-it-is category. It’s part of life of what we do,” said Offensive Coordinator Greg Roman who did speak to media on Thursday. “Players who don’t practice, they’re in meetings, they’re engaged, they’re certainly watching what everybody else at their position is doing just as a backup would. That’s just how it goes and you make the best of it.”
“We certainly want everybody out there, but you’ve got to figure some things out sometimes.”
While this news has the blood pressure of Ravens fans and fantasy owners of Jackson or any other Ravens skill position player on the rise, all indications are pointing to the team keeping their star signal-caller and most valuable player out of practice as an extra precaution.
With so many soft tissue and season-ending injuries suffered by a multitude of stars on both side of the ball across the league, no one can blame Baltimore for wanting to give Jackson as much rest as possible ahead of their Week Five AFC North matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals at M&T Bank Stadium.
