Ravens Activate Outside Linebackers, Bowser, Ojabo

The Baltimore Ravens announced on Tuesday that outside linebackers Tyus Bowser and rookie David Ojabo would be activated to the 53-man roster. Both players began practicing ahead of the Ravens week seven matchup against the Browns, but both remained off the active roster for weeks seven and eight.

Both Bowser and Ojabo are returning from achilles injuries. Bowser suffered his injury last year in the Ravens season finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers. While Ojabo suffered his at his Pro Day ahead of the 2022 NFL draft.

Bowser will look to build off his dominate 2021 season in which he had 59 tackles, two forced fumbles, and a team leading seven sacks.

2022 second-round pick David Ojabo had high expectations ahead of his injury, with many thinking he would be a first-round selection. But even with the unknown surrounding Ojabo, the Ravens took a chance and the risk may now begin to pay off. In his final season at Michigan Ojabo recorded 27 tackles, four forced fumbles, and eight sacks, while being a consensus first team All-Big Ten selection.

While its unlikely both players play significant snaps on Monday night against the Saints, its a step in the right direction in terms of health as now every player that began the year on IR will have played in at least one game this season. The trade acquisition of linebacker Roquan Smith, and the return of a premier outside linebacker in Bowser, the Ravens defense looks poised to be a force in the second half of the season.
