Preview: Bowie State (4-1) at Chowan 1-3

The Bowie State Bulldogs kick off the second half of their season today as they head to Murfeesboro, NC to take on the Chowan Hawks.

Bowie State is coming off a thrilling 20-17 win over Winston Salem State last week, and the Bulldogs are winners of four straight. Bowie State boasts one of the best offenses in the CIAA, averaging 32 points and 460.4 yards per game. While Bowie State’s defense may not turn many heads, allowing on average 30.2 points and 329.4 yards per game, the Bulldogs are coming off of their best defensive game of the season, holding Winston Salem State to just 251 yards, including keeping the Rams in the double digits in rush yards (92).

Bowie State will face a Chowan team that is coming off a 40-38 loss against Fayetteville State last week. Despite the 1-3 record, Chowan is also no stranger to offense, averaging 36.75 points and 489 yards per game. However, the obvious chink in the Hawks’ armor is defense. Chowan allows 45.75 points, 495.75 total yards, and 302.5 rush yards per game.
