Orioles acquire Engelb Vielma from the Giants
The Orioles announced they’ve acquired Engelb Vielma from the Giants in exchange for a player to be named later and cash.
Engelb Vielma last appeared playing for AA Minnesota affiliate Chattanooga. In 119 at bats Vielma hit .286/.362/.328. Vielma has traveled around as of recent, who has gone from the Twins to the Giants to the Phillies to the Pirates and then back to the Giants before being traded today to the Orioles.
The 23 year-old Vielma is a switch-hitting infielder that has spent his majority if his career in the minors playing SS, 2B, & 3B. Don’t look for Vielma to be on the major league roster to start the season but he will be a classic Buck utility guy later down the road. With Baltimore’s ultimate utility guy Ryan Flaherty leaving Vielma will be competing behind Beckham.
