Maryland Travels to Nebraska

Maryland takes on Nebraska on the BTN.  Tip is set for 7pm.

The Terps sit at 17-10, and 6-8 in conference.  This is a huge game for Maryland as they still need road wins to help booster their NCAA Tournament chances.  With two games away from home remaining, Maryland has to win both.  The Cornhuskers are no easy win however.

Nebraska comes in with an impressive 19-8 overall record, and 10-4 in the Big Ten.  As Maryland is battling for a first round bye in the Big Ten tournament, Nebraska needs to win to stay in the fourth spot for a double bye. This game is just as important for the Cornhuskers as it is for the Terrapins.  That’s what’s scary.

Nebraska is led by a set of juniors, guard James Palmer Jr. and forward Isaac Copeland.  Palmer is averaging 17.6 ppg and 4.6 rpg.  Copeland adds 13 points and 6 boards per game.  Also a junior, Glynn Watson Jr. is the only other Cornhusker to average double figures with 11.

As for the Terps, they’re going to need big games, once again, from Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter.  Maryland is going to need Bruno Fernando to play well also, but with the return of Michal Cekovsky, there is more breathing room at the center position in case Bruno lacks on the offensive end again.  Jared Nickens and Dion Wiley played great against Northwestern, and will have to look for their shots and knock them down tonight.

If the Terps win, there is still a chance of reaching the Tournament.  If they lose however, 1-8 on the road is not going to get it done.  Biggest game of the season for Maryland.
