Fining Manning is laughable
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning was fined $8,258 for taunting in Saturdays game against the Houston Texans, according to Chris Mortensen. Manning himself commented that it was money well spent, I for one just think it is funny. Manning did it as a way to stick up for Wes Welker who left the game with a concussion earlier in the game.
Manning has made over $100 million playing in the NFL and fining a star quarterback for a slight taunt an amount that will not even effect him is just stupid. The NFL has been getting stricter and stricter the past few seasons with celebrations and taunting. We all know that the NFL is very inconsistent when it comes to punishments and this is another example. Players taunt players all the time in football and Manning should not have gotten a fine. The NFL would never suspend Manning for taunting no matter how many times he does it so what is the point.
If Johnny Manziel is only fined $12,000 for showing the middle finger on ESPN then Manning should not be fined at all for a little taunt. If you watch the video you can tell that Manning just said something to D.J. Swearinger and did not do any crude gestures or anything.
Manning is known for being a class act in the lead and is a great leader. The NFL is great but sometimes they need to be a little more easy on fines and penalties. This fine is irrelevant to Manning but the NFL needs to relax a little bit.
