The Shorebirds remain one of the youngest teams in the Carolina League, and that youth continues showing up in stretches of inconsistency. Still, the offensive flashes against Fredericksburg and the dominant strikeout performance Tuesday night highlighted the upside throughout Baltimore’s lowest full-season affiliate.
Development remains the biggest priority in Delmarva, and several young Orioles prospects continue taking meaningful steps forward despite the losses. If Layton, Martinez and the young pitching staff continue progressing throughout the summer, the Shorebirds could become one of the more entertaining clubs in the Orioles system during the second half.
