D.C. United Men’s Soccer Earns 1-1 Draw at CF Montréal Behind Tai Baribo Equalizer

D.C. United men’s soccer came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against CF Montréal on Saturday night at Stade Saputo, extending its unbeaten run to six matches. Tai Baribo scored the equalizer in the 66th minute, and the point moved D.C. United to 24 points with a 5-5-9 record in Major League Soccer.

D.C. United and CF Montréal Enter Halftime Scoreless

Head coach René Weiler started midfielder Kimito Nono in his D.C. United debut, while goalkeeper Sean Johnson made his 450th Major League Soccer appearance. D.C. United created an early chance when Tai Baribo headed a Keisuke Kurokawa cross wide in the fourth minute, and Louis Munteanu forced a save from CF Montréal goalkeeper Thomas Gillier with an attempt from outside the box in the 11th minute.

Johnson denied CF Montréal forward Prince Owusu from the center of the box in the 17th minute. The teams remained tied 0-0 at halftime.

CF Montréal Takes the Lead After VAR Review

Tai Baribo Scores D.C. United Equalizer

D.C. United drew level in the 66th minute when Kimito Nono delivered a cross from the right. Tai Baribo rose from the right side of the six-yard box and headed the ball into the net for his 12th goal of the 2026 season.

The goal marked Baribo’s fifth in five consecutive matches. The assist also represented Nono’s first contribution in a D.C. United shirt.

Andre Dozzell went close for D.C. United with an attempt from outside the box in the 83rd minute. CF Montréal came closest to a late winner in second-half stoppage time when substitute Olger Escobar struck the left post.

Sean Johnson Helps D.C. United Secure the Point

CF Montréal pressed for a winner during the closing half hour, but Sean Johnson kept D.C. United level. He made saves against Hennadii Synchuk in the 78th minute, Daniel Ríos in the 80th, and Brayan Vera in the 89th.

D.C. United saw out the remaining minutes to secure the 1-1 draw. The result extended the club’s unbeaten run to six matches and moved it to 24 points on the season.

D.C. United will host the New England Revolution at Audi Field in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, August 19. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET.
