Caps fall to the Canadians in Ot, and the hunt for 700 continues

The Canadians, started the game playing very sloppy hockey. This allowed Alex Ovechkin to score career goal, 699, early in the first period. Shea Weber, tied it up for the Canadians, later on in the first.

The second period, saw each time score once as well. Eller, for the Caps, and Gallagher, for the Canadians.

The third saw goals, from Chiarot, and Wilson for the Canadians and Caps respectively. Wilson’s goal tied the game with 21 seconds left. This sent the game to overtime.

In overtime, Chiarot, scored the game winner on a slapshot, about a minute into ot.

Let’s talk about the elephant in the locker room. The defense has been abysmal as of late. Cap’s made a trade to get Dillon from San Jose. He was a bright spot but he was also on the ice for 3 of the 4 goals, the Canadians scored. Radko Gudas, was on the ice for two different breakaways. The defense needs to tighten up and play as a collective unit.

Caps have now lost 6 of their last 8 games. This has caused them to drop out of first place in the Metro division.
