Capitals vs Islanders, the last of a three game set and first with fans at home for the Capitals

The Washington Capitals are playing the New York Islanders in the last game of the season series between the two teams. The Capitals have a two game winning streak going into this game against the Islanders. This is an important game as the race for first place in the Mass Mutual Eastern Division is heating up with Pitt leading the points by one. A loss would put the Islanders within one point of second place. This game also will have 2100 fans in attendance for the first time this season. The Capitals won the last meeting between the two clubs 6-3. This will also be Alex Ovechkins second consecutive missed game.

The defense has been stellar and needs to keep up the good play. They have been clearing the defensive zone out in a timely manor, as well as blocking shots. They are making life easier for the goaltender who is able to relax a little bit more.

The goaltending has also been superb. There have been a few goals that the goalies would like to have back but for the most part, their play has been way above expectations for young goaltenders.

The offense has been excelling at scoring goals, even with Alex Ovechkin being injured. The team scored six goals in the last game and doesn’t seem to show any signs of slowing down. The team is getting goals from all four lines which means everyone is doing their part to help the team win.

The game is at 7 on NBCSN and can be heard on 106.7 fm.
