Capitals vs Flyers, a primetime matchup between two bottom teams in the Metropolitain Division
The Washington Capitals welcome the Philadelphia Flyers to town on Wednesday for a primetime game being shown on TNT. The Capitals are on a losing streak having lost 4 of the last 5 games. The Flyers have also lost their last 5 games. Carter Hart and Darcy Kuemper have put up similar numbers this season, with Kuemper posting a 2.83 goals against average per game while Hart is posting a 2.68 goals against average. This is a solid matchup because both teams are hungry for a win and to right the ship.
Alex Ovechkin is looking to add to his career goals and get closer to Gordie Howe. He currently needs 13 goals to pass him. He currently has 5 power play goals but posses a wicked slapshot, so if he gets open in his office then there’s a great possibility of him adding to that total.
Both teams do have a solid penalty kill with the Flyers killing off 74.6% and the Capitals killing off 78.3% of penalties. Neither team has given up a short handed goal while both teams have scored short handed. For the Capitals and their struggling power play, this is horrible news as statistically it doesn’t seem like this will be the game for them to get it right.
