Capitals visit Flames, Ovechkin and Backstrom’s 1000th game together
The Washington Capitals visit Calgary after turning in a good game against Seattle. This will be the 1,000th game Alex Ovechkin and Niklaus Backstrom have played together. Ovi is also three goals away from becoming third on the all time scoring list. While goaltending is still an issue for the team, Vitek Vanachek has looked solid in the few games he’s started since returning from injury. The Caps also just got Anthony Mantha back a few games ago and he has looked like a solid piece of the offense. Kuznetsov has been a solid passer this season racking up a bunch of assists as well as being a proficient goal scorer for the team. The penalty kill has been decent for the Capitals. This is also the first of a three game swing through Canada, thats pivotal to get points to stay in the wildcard race.
