Capitals look to end two game losing streak tonight against the Rangers

After the banner was raised before game one of the season the Capitals used the emotion to blowout and shut out the Boston Bruins. The following night they used that momentum to put up six more goals against the Penguins in a losing effort. Washington has already been on a roller coaster just five games into the season. Injuries, suspensions and lineup changes have made for an interesting start to the Capitals season.
The downside right now is the Capitals are in a current two game losing streak, the positive? The Rangers come to Washington D.C. after playing a 65 minute shoot out win against a tough Colorado Avalanche team.
Let’s keep going with the power of positivity here. If you look at Washington’s first five opponents they have all been a playoff team from the 2017-18 season. It gets more interesting as three of those first five opponents also advanced at least to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs. Considering that Washington played those five games as part of two sets of TJ Oshie’s new favorite phrase “back to back” and then according to Mike Vogel the last three contests were played in a span of four nights (thanks for the math), the Caps should be happy with the current 2-2-1 record so far this season. It’s not always good to look to far into the future, but take a look ahead at the schedule. Honestly the Caps schedule looks to be a bit easier starting with tonight’s game against the New York Rangers.
