Capitals face the Islanders in a battle for first in the East Division

The Washington Capitals are back in New York to face former coach Barry Trotz and the New York Islanders. Both teams are tied at 62 points for east in the division. It’s the first of three consecutive games against the Islanders.

The team needs to continue the good play in the defensive zone. Getting the puck out of the zone, finishing checks, and breaking up passes is key. This allows for the team to put pressure on the opposing team by playing a lot of offense.

The other key to focus on is keeping pressure away from the goaltender. If they can keep the goalie from facing 40+ shots in a game then they can keep him rested and ready to go.

The game is at 7 on NBC sports Washington and on 106.7 fm
