Capitals face the Flyers on the last game of this road trip

The Washington Capitals are playing the Philadelphia Flyers on the last game of a road trip. This is a matchup of the 6th and 7th seed in the Metro Division . The Capitals are coming off a gritty and well fought game against the Edmonton Oilers and are looking to build upon that. Both teams are 2-3 in their last 5 games. The Capitals primary goaltender Darcy Kuemper got injured so most likely Charlie Lindgren is going to start. Both teams are dealing with the injury bug, so lineups will look really different for the game. The Capitals edged out a victory the last time these two teams met, in November. That was a very gritty and physical game, and this seems to be along the same lines. Alex Ovechkin is at 793 career goals and is inching closer to Gordie Howe at 801. This will be a big emphasis during the game, as everyone wants Alex to pass that record. While the teams defense has left a lot to be desired, the team has been playing better as an overall unit and playing more cohesively. This has allowed the team to shut down attempts at bringing the puck into the zone and setting up plays.
