Bernhardt and DeMaio Lead Maryland Over Duke In Semifinals

Jared Bernhardt came back for an extra year to win a national title. He will get that chance on Monday after Maryland defeated Duke 14-5 today in Hartford Connecticut. Bernhardt finished with five goals and two assists. Anthony DeMaio added two goals and two assists.

Logan McNaney finished with 17 saves to lead a Terps defense that held a high powered Duke offense scoreless for 20 minutes. During that time offense scored 7 goals to build an 11-3 lead. They have had a run of at least 5 goals in every game this season.

A big story coming into the game was face-offs. The Terps have struggled at the X most of the season. Today was different as they won 12 of 22. Ground balls were 40-29 in Maryland’s favor.

Maryland will play Virginia on Monday for the National Championship. The Cavaliers held off UNC 12-11 in the first semifinal today. Connor Shellenberger had 2 and 4 today for UVA. It starts at 1pm and will be on ESPN2.
