Hershey Bears Weekly Report  Vol 6. 12/13- 12/19

Welcome back to the Hershey Bears weekly review. Today we will look back at the past week for the minor league affiliate of the Washington Capitals:

12/13- Bears did not play

12/14- Fresh off a loss to Laval, the Bears traveled to take on the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins. Joe Snively got the party going for the Bears early with a tally to make the game 1-0 Hershey. The first ended at 1-0 Bears, important for them to get early scoring as they’ve struggled at times. The Second period didn’t see much action until the final 1:21 as the Bears scored 2 goals in 62 seconds. Kody Clark and Axel Jonnson-Fjallby scored to make the game 3-0. The Pens finally struck in the 3rd period to make the game 3-1. The Bears finished up the scoring as Matt Moulson scored with 1:25 left to put the game out of reach. The Bears scored a big win over their rival and look to keep their momentum going.

12/15- Bears did not play. The Capitals reassigned Brett Leason to Hershey.

12/16- Bears did not play. Ryan Bernard was recalled to Hershey from South Carolina.

12/17- The Bears hit the road for a matchup with the Springfield Thunderbirds. The Bears looked to continue to build off the momentum of their win over the Penguins. Mike Vecchione got the scoring going for the Bears as he cleaned up a rebound to put them up 1-0. The Bears got another goal in the second period from Matt Moulson to give the Bears a 2-0 lead. Garrett Pilon got his 100th career point and Phoenix Copley got the shutout and the Bears took this one 2-0.

12/18- The Bears traveled back to Hershey for another tilt with the Penguins. This game was not close at all and a rough one for the Penguins. The Bears started the scoring with a Kale Kessey goal off a feed from Kody Clark. Clark then grabbed a loose puck in the Pens zone to give the Bears a 2-0 lead. Ryan Dmowski made it 3-0 off his second goal of the season. The Pens got one before the first period ended to make it 3-1 going into the second. The Pens made a goalie change, which ended up not making much of a difference in the long run of the game. Mike Vecchione grabbed a goal, which made it 4-1. Bobby Nardella scored a power play goal to give the Bears a 5-1 lead and then a minute lead Mason Morelli scored on a breakaway to give the Bears a 6-1 lead. The Pena got one back before the period was over to make it 6-2. Axel Jonnson-Fjallby notched another power play goal to give the Bears a 7-2 lead. The Pens would add their 3rd goal on the night, but by then it was a too late. Shane Gersich added a short handed goal to give the Bears a dominating 8-3 win over the Penguins. The Bears are on a 3 game win streak and are playing some really good hockey as of late.

12/19- COVID has run rampant through the NHL and TJ Oshie has become the latest Caps player to enter protocol. Joe Snively is the latest Hershey player to get the call up. A Virginia native, Snively will look to keep the trend of Hershey players players playing big roles for the Caps. Bears back in action tonight against the Rochester Americans
