Johns Hopkins University women’s lacrosse head coach Tim McCormack has been named a technical advisor for the U.S. Sixes National Teams, according to USA Lacrosse. McCormack will work with both the U.S. men’s and women’s sixes programs as USA Lacrosse prepares for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, which will feature the sixes discipline.
USA Lacrosse is adding three technical advisors to its sixes national team program, with McCormack the first to be announced. The appointment expands his national-team work after he served as an assistant coach for the 2024 U.S. Women’s U20 National Team, which won a gold medal in Hong Kong.
McCormack brings Johns Hopkins experience to U.S. Sixes
McCormack led the Johns Hopkins University women’s lacrosse program to a school-record 17 wins and the NCAA semifinals in the previous season. The appearance marked the first time Johns Hopkins had reached championship weekend at the Division I level.
In his first four seasons at Johns Hopkins University, McCormack led the Blue Jays to a 51-29 record and four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances. Before joining Johns Hopkins, he served as the head coach at Arizona State for three seasons and earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors twice.
McCormack also spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Northwestern. During that time, the Wildcats won 81 games, made six NCAA tournament appearances, reached the semifinals twice and won the 2019 Big Ten championship.
USA Lacrosse cites McCormack’s experience
Jason Vescovi, vice president of high performance for USA Lacrosse, said McCormack’s experience will benefit both sixes teams as the format develops internationally.
“Adding Tim McCormack as a technical advisor is a real asset for our sixes national teams,” Vescovi said. “His unique experience will help us stay ahead and develop a competitive advantage as the format evolves internationally. I’m confident that our coaches and athletes will benefit immediately from the expertise he will bring to both teams.”
McCormack said representing the United States is a privilege and that he is looking forward to contributing to both programs.

McCormack’s playing background
McCormack graduated from the University of Massachusetts in 2012. He was a three-year starting goalkeeper and two-time captain for the Minutemen.
As a senior, McCormack led Massachusetts to a 15-1 record and the program’s first No. 1 national ranking. He posted a 7.09 goals-against average and a .606 save percentage while earning All-CAA and USILA All-America honors.
