Harrisburg Senators Rally Past Baysox 3-2 on Sam Brown’s Ninth-Inning Homer

Harrisburg Senators rallied from a two-run deficit with Sam Brown’s three-run home run in the ninth inning to defeat the Baysox 3-2 on Aug. 6, 2026, in Bowie, Md. The Senators trailed 2-0 with one out in the ninth before Brown’s fifth home run of the season put Harrisburg ahead.

Luke Young earned the win to improve to 3-0 and retired the side in order in the bottom of the ninth. The result completed Harrisburg’s comeback after the Baysox had taken the lead in the sixth inning.

Sam Brown Delivers the Ninth-Inning Comeback

Elijah Green started the rally with a one-out double in the ninth inning. Kervin Pichardo followed with a walk, putting the tying runs on base with one out.

Brown fell into an 0-2 count against Baysox right-hander Ryan Long before launching a high fastball to right field. The three-run homer gave the Senators a 3-2 lead.

Josh Hartle Makes Senators Debut

Josh Hartle retired the first 13 Chesapeake hitters he faced in his Harrisburg debut. He allowed one run in 5.1 innings on three hits and no walks while striking out seven.

Hartle allowed back-to-back singles in the fifth inning but escaped the threat with two strikeouts. He left in the sixth inning with a runner on first and one out, and Robert Cranz recorded a fielder’s-choice groundout for the second out.

Baysox Take a 2-0 Lead

Cranz then issued a walk and threw a wild pitch, leaving runners on second and third with two outs. Anderson De Los Santos followed with a groundball single through the infield that scored two runs and gave the Baysox a 2-0 lead.

Joseph Dzierwa kept the Senators scoreless through six innings. He allowed four hits, issued no walks and struck out nine.

Senators Relief Keeps the Game Close

Holden Powell worked around a hit, a walk and a wild pitch in the seventh inning while recording two strikeouts. He stranded two runners in scoring position to preserve the 2-0 deficit.

Young followed with a one-two-three eighth inning and struck out two. He then retired the side in order in the ninth after Brown’s home run to secure the Harrisburg victory.

What Comes Next for the Harrisburg Senators

The Senators are scheduled to play again Friday at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Yoel Tejeda Jr., listed at 0-1, is scheduled to start.

Maryland Sports Blog Take

The Harrisburg Senators turned a 2-0 deficit into a 3-2 victory with a three-batter ninth-inning sequence: Green doubled, Pichardo walked and Brown delivered the go-ahead homer. That late rally overcame six scoreless innings from Dzierwa.

Hartle’s debut also gave Harrisburg an early foundation, while Powell and Young kept the Baysox from adding to their lead. Young’s ninth-inning finish preserved the comeback and completed the Senators’ win in Bowie.
