Capitals vs. Avalanche Preview: October 14, 2019
The Washington Capitals return home looking to right the ship against the Colorado Avalanche. Though they have a winning record, the Capitals had been choking late leads before Saturday’s 4-2 win over Dallas. Today, they return home with a look to pull a key win and prove early doubters wrong.
Braden Holtby has been doing all he can, but has lost three straight games as starter. He starts tonight looking to turn things around. Though rookie goalie Ilya Samsonov has shown promise. Both have over 90% saves and are ready to face the Avs.
The Avs sit at 3-0-0, atop their division and one of the few unbeaten teams remaining. They bring to Washington former Capitals Andre Burakovsky and Philip Grubauer. They bring their high scoring offense to the Capitals, who are ready to defend the house. This should be a good early game for both sides.
Starting lines for the Capitals:
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Wilson
Vrana-Kuznetsov-Oshie
