Brandon Hyde Hired as new Orioles Manager.
The Baltimore Orioles have hired former Chicago Cubs bench coach as the 20th manager in Orioles history.
After playing to a 47-115 record, the Orioles ownership knew a change had to be made, so both general manager, Dan Duquette, and iconic manager, Buck Showalter were the most notable dismissals this offseason. The Orioles chose Mike Elias as the general manager but still had a massive hole at the on-field manager position.
The list was narrowed down to 6 candidates:
- Nationals Bench Coach, Chip Hale.
- Rockies Bench Coach, Mike Redmond.
- Royals Catching/Quality Control Coach, Pedro Grifol.
- Diamondbacks Director of Player Development, Mike Bell.
- Former Indians and Nationals Manager, Manny Acta.
- Cubs Bench Coach, Brandon Hyde.
Brandon Hyde was the final selection. Hyde garnered interest from several teams with manager vacancies this offseason such as the Twins, Angels, and Rangers. 45 year old Hyde, the California native, is not known for his brief playing career but does have a rather well rounded résumé, despite this being his first experience as a manager at the major league level, he has been a minor league manager in the Marlins organization, a bench coach at the major league level with the Cubs and the Marlins, a director of Player Development with the Cubs, and the Cubs first base coach at one time in his career.

I look forward to introducing him to our fans next week and to working together with him to build the next great Orioles team.”
Brandon Hyde is an up and coming manager in Major League Baseball with his experience in several aspects of the game.
Hyde will be welcomed and introduced on Monday in a press conference in Baltimore.
