Hershey falls short to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in 5-3 loss.
The Hershey Bears lost their seventh straight game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on the road Tuesday night.This game marked Chris Bourque’s 600th career game with the Hershey Bears and Garrett Mitchell played his 400th professional game as well.
With Teddy Blueger being the first to score for the Penguins just fifty three seconds into the first period. Hershey would tie it up at 13:41, when Connor Hobbs found the back of the net making it 1-1. At 15:41 in the period the Pens would gain the lead again with Garrett Wilson getting his sixteenth goal of the season.
During the second period Sam Lafferty earned his first professional goal at 10:19 in the period to pull the Penguins ahead 3-1. It would be the only goal of the second period, but with three goals on fifteen shots, Copley would head to the bench to make room for Vitek Vanecek between the pipes.
Wilkes-Barre would widen the gap with a power play goal from Daniel Sprong at 4:32 in the third period. Hershey would try to rebound with Anthony Peluso scoring after a sweet pass from Aaron Ness at 13:13 in the final round. Less than three minutes later Hershey would get their first power play goal of the game as Mathias Bau earned his twelfth goal of the season at 16:11 in the period. Hershey finished the period on a 6-on-4 power play, when the Penguins’ Jean- Sebastian Dea would find the empty net with only two seconds left in the game to end it at 5-3 Wilkes-Barre.
Hershey came out on top in shots outshooting Wilkes-Barre 33-30. Their record now drops to 29-34-4-5 for the season. Hershey heads south this weekend to take on the Charlotte Checker in back to back matchup in Charlotte.
