Maryland’s Women Volleyball Rebounds Against Indiana
After getting sweep against Ohio State in their B1G Ten Conference opener this past Wednesday, the Maryland Lady Terps (12-2; 1-1) rebounded nicely against Indiana (11-3; 0-2) yesterday and sweep the Lady Hoosiers 3 sets to 0, 25-17; 25-19; 26-24.
Maryland had a total of nine service aces and Gia Milana had a team-high 11 of the team’s 35 kills.
In the first set, Maryland opened the set on a 5-0 run and won the set on a kill by Angel Gaskin (with a set assist from Samantha Snyder).
The second set started out more competitive and for the first time in the match, Indiana held the lead at 4-3. But Maryland would then go on a 11-3 run of it’s own to take a 14-7 lead. It looked liked they were going to win the set handily, up 24-14 before Indiana went on a 5-0 run of it’s own to pull to within 24-19. But one of Milana’s kills (again with another set assist from Snyder) gave Maryland the set 25-19 and a 2-0 set lead.
Indiana would not give up easily in the third set and even held a set point at 24-23 before the Lady Terps ended the match on a three-point winning streak. They won the set 26-24 and the match at 3-0 when Deyshia Lofton’s attack went for an error.
Maryland will end it’s four-game road trip with back to back games against Michigan State (8-2; 1-0) on September 29th and Michigan (10-3; 0-1) on September 30th before coming back to College Park to play Rutgers (5-9; 0-2) on October 6th.
