Washington Wizards Put A Spell On The Orlando Magic Beating Them 125-119!

Washington had lost the last 2 games leading up to this one against the Orlando Magic so they were due a win, which they did 125-119!

Stats: Please note, I’m a legal wordsmith not a statistician.  Trying to cover all the stats messed up my flow. We’re sticking to the eye stats after this, aside from the regular ‘box scores’.

Washington Wizards:  Beal 30pts, 3r, 7a, 1stl; Wall 30pts, 3r, 9a, 1stl; Mahinmi 17pts, 8r, 1a, 1stl, 3b.

Orlando Magic:  Payton 27 ts, 5r, 8a, 1stl; Simmons 23pts, 5a, Biyombo 21pts, 13r, 4a, 1stl.

Notables:

The Wizards looked better than they had recently, but I might be saying that because they won.  Wall and Beal had some nice chemistry going early.  Wall made franchise history with his 10,000 point.  I’ve still not seen a close up of his shoes since his big Adidas contract. Washington could use a little shoe cam action.

Marcin Gortat really uses his body to block his opponents, he’s very tough.  Frankly, I’m surprised he’s not more susceptible to injury.  Ian Mahinmi also did a great job. I remember him from his Pacer days; he was drafted by the Spurs, when have they gone wrong?  He was really active and always seemed to find himself in a spot to help his teammates.  Oubre also doesn’t seem to mind taking contact.  He made what his coach considered an ill advised 3 late in the 4th but if had of gone in, it would have been gravy.  I stand by my statement about him and 3s.

Beal was limping at the half but was able to shake it off and return.  He beat Simmons with a nice little shake ‘n’ bake in the 4th.

For the Magic, Bismack Biyombo was really putting in work.  Elfrid Payton was the points leader but I missed most of his shots looking at his hair.  No shade.  But I’d never seen it before and kept wondering if it blocked his vision.  Based on his stats I’d say that’s a no.  Simmons looked good and seemed to be everywhere.

Frank Vogel, Magic’s coach, looks soo different than when he was in Indiana.  I can’t tell if he’s loving Orlando or if it’s killing him.

Next up:  A game that’s already been played!  The Brooklyn Nets at home Saturday.  Recap up next.
