Wilson Ramos Lands on DL Again; Sandy Leon Recalled

Wilson Ramos The Washington Nationals announced that catcher Wilson Ramos will be headed to the disabled list due to a right hamstring strain. The good news about the injury is that it doesn’t appear to be too serious and according to doctors he may just need 8-10 days to heal which means he can come off the DL at the minimum 15 day limit which could allow him to be activated on June 26.

This will be Ramos second trip to the DL this year along with his fourth in the last two years. The two trips last year to the DL for Ramos were a result of hamstring injuries. Ramos said that he felt that this injury was not nearly as bad as his previous hamstring issues and he also went on to suggest that he may change his leg conditioning program to keep these injuries from keep coming back.

Ramos after a slow start to his season due to a hand injury has come on strong as of late as he is holding an average of .261 with one home run to go along with 11 RBIs. In the game he got hurt Ramos came out after his second double of the night which left him with an impressive game.

Sandy Leon will be replacing Ramos on the Nationals active roster and even though he is hitting only .182 in 44 at bats this season he is a career .213 hitter who is known mainly for his impressive defense.
