Washington Capitals open the season against the Boston Bruins

The Washington Capitals are set to open the season at Capital One Arena against the Boston Bruins. This season starts with a lot of question marks for the Capitals. Will Nicklous Backstrom come back healthy from off season hip surgery? How will he fit into the plans for the Capitals if he does, with Dylan Strome being signed to replace him while on long term injury reserve. How long will Carl Haglin be out after just having hip surgery and an injury to his eye? When Tom Wilson comes back, how will his leg hold up after acl surgery this past off season? The biggest storyline going into this season is, will Alex Ovechkin score another 50 goals to become the all time leader in most 50 goal seasons. Ovi is also 22 goals away from passing Gordie Howe for second all time in goals scored. The team is looking to start the season strong against a formidable Boston group who is also dealing with some injury’s to their core team. Boston is usually a tough game for the Caps and it usually comes down to the wire. Boston is also starting with a new coach so it should be a good matchup for the Capitals.
