Top Capitals Prospect Shane Gersich to Skip Senior Season and Sign With the Capitals

Top Washington Capitals Prospect Shane Gersich will skip senior season for North Dakota University to sign an entry level contract. He could be with the Hershey Bears by the end of the season, or be on the Capitals before the playoffs. Shane was a fifth round pick in 2014, and has been a key player at University of North Dakota.

Last year he was on a line with current NHL rookie sensation Brock Besser of the Vancouver Canucks and rookie Tyson Jost of the Colorado Avalanche. After a disappointing team effort of North Dakota University Shane produced 29 points in 40 games, and last year produced 37 points in 40 games.

With the right people around him Shane could be a TJ Oshie kind of player. The Minnesota native has been an elite player in every league he has played in.

Shane has also made some highlight reel goals during his time at UND.https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=z6RI-nHR_do
