Reimold to start rehab at Bowie

200px-Baltimore_Orioles_left_fielder_Nolan_Reimold_(14)Baltimore Orioles outfielder Nolan Reimold has been assigned to double-A Bowie to start his rehab assignment.  Reimold has been recovering from a neck injury and has been slowly recovering.  Reimold is often forgot of because he has had so many injury problems.  At one time Reimold was considered one of the Orioles best hitting prospects.

Reimold’s rehab may be a long one because he has been out of baseball for nearly a year recovering.  However it was reported by Brittany Ghiroli that Reimold has a locker with the Orioles now, which may hint at a short rehab.

I think Reimold needs to prove that he can play and stay healthy in the minors.  There is no doubt that the talent has always been there but countless injuries have effected his performance.

The Orioles will also need to find a spot for him.  Reimold is a power hitting right-handed outfielder and DH which the Orioles already have three of those guys in Nelson Cruz, Delmon Young and Steve Pearce.  Reimold is a better outfielder than all three of those guys when he is fully healthy so he may be able to take David Lough’s spot but Lough’s bat has been coming around recently.

Here is the tweet from the Bowie Baysox about the transaction.
