The #Redskins have signed LB Zach Brown to a 3-year deal worth max of $24M, source said. 127 tackles stay in Washington.

Brown was the Redskins leading tackler with 127 in 2017 despite missing three games due to numerous lower body injuries. Brown was one of the best linebackers available this free agency and numerous teams showed interest.  The Redskins organization and their fans were ecstatic when they heard the news. This is what Redskins Coach Jay Gruden had to say about the signing.

“That’s exciting,” Redskins Coach Jay Gruden said. “We were getting a little nervous here. Everybody was getting ready to sign and Zach was holding out on us. But we’re glad to have Zach back.”

“Having him in a second year in this system is very important. I think he’ll be a lot more comfortable. And I think coach (Greg) Manusky will know what we have and get Mason Foster next to him making the calls and helping him out. I think it’s a great fit. We love the speed, love his athleticism. Getting him back here for another year is important to our defense.”

Brown’s return will help the Redskins run defense which ranked 32nd last season. The Redskins don’t have too much salary cap left, so expect the Redskins to go heavy on defense in the 2018 Draft.
