Ravens report card: 10/22/2017
The Baltimore Ravens lost to the Minnesota Vikings 24 to 16 in Minnesota. The Ravens have lost four of their last five games and the offense has been awful.
Quarterback: Poor Joe Flacco, at this point in the season he just can not catch a break. Flacco had two healthy receivers at the the end of the game. Flacco was 27 for 39 with a late touchdown. Flacco was also sacked five times. Numbers wise this was one of Flacco’s best games this season. Grade B
Running Backs: As good as Alex Collins and Buck Allen have been this season they really had no where to run in this game. Collins averaged only three yards per carry. Allen was not much better with 3.3 yards per carry. It was not entirely their fault, they had no where to run. Grade C
Receivers: Ben Watson lead the Ravens with five receptions and 38 yards. The Ravens need to use their tight ends more effectively because they have some talented ones. Chris Moore had the Ravens lone touchdown and Micheal Campanaro made some plays. This unit lost Mike Wallace early and was really down to emergency players. Griff Whalen who was just signed days before the game had four receptions. This unit was constantly off on their route running and was not on the same page as Flacco. Grade D
Offensive Line: This unit was the worst unit on the field by far. Ronnie Stanley had his worst game as a professional football player and got beat several times. This unit allowed five sacks, some of which were completely unblocked. Grade F
Defensive Line: This unit started off well, Brandon Williams made an impact immediately in his return. Still this unit wore down and allowed 169 rushing yards. This unit also did not get to the quarterback the entire game. Grade D
Linebackers: C.J. Mosley was all over the field with nine tackles, including two that went for a loss. Mosley and Terrell Suggs both had good games and stood out. The linebackers are not the problem for the Ravens as they remain one of the strongest groups in the league. Grade B
Secondary: Brandon Carr continues to play well, he started the game off with a fantastic interception and he had six tackles. Tony Jefferson had a very poor game, Jefferson missed several tackles in the open field. Jefferson needs to step up his play. This unit was still solid, they are shutting down the passing game for the most part which is forcing teams to run. Grade B
Special Teams: Justin Tucker was three for three on field goals which really kept the Ravens in the game for the most part. The punt coverage team struggled in this game. The Ravens allowed an uncharacteristic 83 punt return yards. Grade C
Coaching Staff: Some changes have to be made on the offensive coaching staff. The Ravens moved the ball when they went no huddle it still baffles my mind as to why the Ravens do not keep Flacco in an offense he clearly thrives in. Grade D
Overall: The Ravens played poorly again on all sides of the ball, injuries are not helping this team but they could clearly play better. Grade D
