Pitta out for the season, career in doubt

20140711-233037-84637590.jpgThe Baltimore Ravens were struck a huge blow Sunday when Dennis Pitta went down on a non contact injury.  Pitta dislocated his right hip and had hip surgery.  Pitta injured the same hip last season and it makes it really hard to think that Pitta will be able to recover from this one.

Pitta already had 16 receptions this season and was once again one of Joe Flacco’s favorite targets.  The Ravens are looking to add another tight end but are in good hands at that position.  The Ravens brought in Owen Daniels and drafted Crockett Gillmore to sure up the tight end position.

Gillmore still has some devolepment to do but has looked very promising and is already a very good blocker.  Kyle Juszczyk can also play tight end and lined up at tight end against the Cleveland Browns.

The Ravens are sending prayers out to Pitta and are hoping that this injury is not career ending.  When Pitta first injured his hip last season during training camp one of the original thoughts was that it could be something Pitta could never recover from.
