Keys on the Right Track

The Frederick Keys, despite losing a four game series at home to the Lynchburg Hillcats, went on to sweep the Winston-Salem Dash and win their first series of the season, which happened to be on the road. With the first game of the series against the Dash being rained out, the Keys would be forced to play a doubleheader the following day.

The keys only gave up three runs in the first game and allowed no runs in the second game of the day, propelling them into a brief, but necessary, four game winning streak. Read more about Keys on the Right Track

Rolando McClain retires again

Rolando McClain.JPGThe Baltimore Ravens were going to give Rolando McClain another chance to play football, they just reinstated him so he would be eligible to workout with the team.  McClain told Seth Wickersham tweeted that McClain told him he was done with football.

This is a real surprise as McClain was just getting back into football and seemed to be a full go.  It sounds like McClain never enjoyed football or never wanted to play for the Ravens.  McClain is only 24 years old, so he is very young for someone who has already retired twice.

The Ravens never counted on McClain and were not impressed by McClain’s work out. McClain gave up on his workout according to several reporters.

Gausman Starting Strong

353px-Kevin_Gausman_(cropped)On Sunday, Kevin Gausman, showed why he’s the Orioles top prospect. Gausman pitched his best game for the Tides thus far this season. Gausman pitched 5.0 innings, walked two, struck out four, and didn’t allow a run on four hits. The 5.0 innings pitched by Gausman yesterday were the most innings he has pitched in four games this season. Though Gausman didn’t get the win, he did what Norfolk needed him to do to try to win a game as the Tides’ offense took full advantage of it.

Wizards pull away late to take Game One

wizardsIn an energetic start to the series the Washington Wizards take Game one from the Bulls in Chicago. The game was closely contested throughout the night with the Chicago Bulls taking a six point lead into the half and opening up a 13 point lead early in the 3rd quarter before the Wizards mounted a comeback resulting in the victory 102-93. The teams seemed fairly evenly matched throughout the game but a quick review of the box scores leads me to believe the Wizards hold the edge in this series.
