Ovechkin Hits 500 Assist Milestone

Thursday night, Alex Ovechkin hit another milestone in his future hall of fame career hitting his 500 assist.  Ovechkin is currently the fourth active player with 500+ assist trailing Jaromir Jagr, Marian Hossa and Patrick Marleau and becoming the 43 player in history to make this milestone.

Ovechkin also joined hall of famers Gretzky, Brett Hull and Teemu Selanne by achieving the 500/500 club by joining these in taking less than 1,000 to achieve this.

The assist came when Ovechkin received a pass from Kuznetsof on the power play and delivered a pass to his longtime teammate Nickolas Backstrom setting up his long time partner for a goal to give the Caps a lead last night.

Ovechkin joined his teammate Backstrom who are now the only two Capitals to have more than 500 assist with the club.  With these numbers and milestones achieved Ovechkin is now looking for a trans first Stanley Cuo this year.
