Orioles put up two runs in loss to the Blue Jays

The Baltimore Orioles only tallied five hits throughout tonight’s loss to the Buffalo Blue Jays by a score of seven to two. The Orioles were stymied on offense by only scoring two runs on five hits. On the other hand, the Blue Jays scored seven runs on nine hits. Neither team committed any defensive errors.

The Blue Jays opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning by scoring four runs off of Alex Cobb. Cavan Biggio brought in Lourdes Gurriel Jr. to make the score one to nothing. Soon after, Randal Grichuk hit a three run home run to extend the lead four to nothing.

An inning and a half later in the bottom of the fourth, Pedro Severino hit a RBI single that brought in Anthony Santander bring the game to four to one.

The Blue Jays scored two more times. One time in the top of the seventh and another in the top of the ninth. In the top of the seventh, Grichuk brought in Danny Jansen to extend the lead to five to one.

As the ninth inning rolled around, Biggio was up to bat and smacked a two run home run to center field to bring the score to seven to one, Blue Jays.

The Orioles would remain determined to come back in the bottom of the ninth. Renato Nunez scored Cedric Mullins on a single to shallow left field. Subsequently, the game would become seven to two at this point.

Disappointingly enough, this would not be enough to rally back. The Orioles face the Blue Jays again tomorrow night to even up the series. After tonight’s game, the Orioles still stand in third place in the American League East.
