Nationals open weekend series against Marlins; lineup and updates: 8/30/19

The Washington Nationals host the Miami Marlins for this weekend series at Nationals Park. Anibal Sanchez (8-6, 3.81 ER) faces Elieser Hernandez (3-6, 4.97 ERA) for the series opener. The Nationals stand at 74-58 and the Marlins 47-85.

Before today’s game, the Nationals made several roster moves. Hunter Strickland has returned from paternity leave and Roenis Elias from the injured list, and to make room for the two relief pitchers, Spencer Kieboom was sent back to Double-A Harrisburg and Matt Grace designated for assignment. Sean Doolittle will begin a rehab assignment with the Potomac Nationals. He and Ryan Zimmerman are expected to return at roster expansions.
