Nationals beat the Braves 9-4; recap 9/8/19

The Washington Nationals beat the Atlanta Braves Sunday afternoon at SunTrust Park. Nationals’ record currently stands at 79-63. The Braves drop to 89-55.

Max Scherzer pitched a very strong six innings for Washington. Scherzer allowed two hits and nine strikeouts while pitching. Javy Guerra allowed five hits and three strikeouts in relief for Washington.

In the top of the first, right fielder Adam Eaton homered to center (417 feet), Turner scored. Also, catcher Yan Gomes homered to left center (424 feet).

At the top of the third inning, left fielder Juan Soto homered to left (370 feet).

In addition, in the top of the seventh, Gomes homered to left (411 feet). Additionally, Eaton doubled to first, Max Scherzer scored. Additionally, second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera doubled to deep right center, Rendon scored and Eaton scored.

Finally, in the top of the ninth, Cabrera singled to right, Ad. Sanchez scored.

With a win over the Braves, the Nationals head to Minnesota to play the Twins starting Tuesday at 7:40pm. Pitching for the Nationals is Anibal Sanchez.
