Mystics Lose Undefeated Record, Follow With Win

After starting the season 4-0, the Washington Mystics dropped their first game of the season to the Seattle Storm on Tuesday, May 29. The Storm currently holds a 4-1 record. The Mystics had solid performances all around, with four players scoring in double digits, however could not match the star power of the Storm. Breanna Stewart and Jewell Loyd each tallied 25+ points and 5+ rebounds.

Yesterday, May 30, the Mystics beat the Phoenix Mercury (2-3) 103-95 despite coming off a back-to-back. The win improved the Mystics to 5-1. The Mystics were fueled by an astounding 30 point performance from Kristi Toliver. The Mercury had two scorersĀ (Brittney Griner and DeWanna Bonner) with 25+ points but lacked the scoring depth that the Mystics had, as their next highest scorer had only eleven points.

The Mystics will have a much awaited day off today before playing the Las Vegas Aces tomorrow, June 1. The Mystics are 1-0 against the Aces this year, as they beat them 75-70 on May 22.
