Recap: Wizards crush Timberwolves in much needed win

The Washington Wizards beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 135 to 121. Two desperate teams holding on to slim playoff hopes collided Sunday when the Washington Wizards hosted the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Verizon Center.

In this high scoring affair, Bobby Portis led all Wizards with 26 points, 12 rebounds. Bradley Beal and reserve Jabari Parker each scored 22 points. Karl-Anthony Towns led all Timberwolves with 28 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Derrick Rose scored 18 points off the bench while Taj Gibson had 14 points, 10 rebounds, Andrew Wiggins 14 points. Washington led by 10 to start the fourth quarter.

Minnesota started a comeback and inched closer toward the middle of the quarter but Washington eventually pulled away and led by as many as 16 in the final minutes. Wizards won 135-121. The Wizards host the Mavericks Wednesday Night and the Timberwolves host the Thunder Tuesday Night.
