Machado to be suspended five games, plans to appeal
The MLB plans to suspend Baltimore Orioles third baseman Manny Machado for five games, according to league source. Machado plans to appeal the suspension which means he will be able to play until the appeal process plays out. Typically during the appeal players get their suspensions reduced.
I predict that Machado’s suspension will be reduced to three games after the appeal. Remember Machado is being suspended for throwing his bat after being thrown to at the knees on back-to-back pitches. Machado simply lost his cool remember he is young.
The MLB should go easy on Machado, remember if the ball hit his knee Machado might have been out for the season or for his career. Machado missed all of April still recovering from a knee injury and it has to be on his mind.
