The Hershey Bears get shutout by the Binghamton Devils 3-0

With Vitek Vanecek in the net Saturday night on the road against the Binghamton Devils, The Hershey Bears dropped another game in the standings losing 3-0.

It didn’t take Binghamton long, when just under four minutes into the first period former Hershey Bear Tim Kennedy would get goal number one for the Devils at 3;54.

The second period would play through with either team scoring and the third period would start out with the Devils still in the lead 1-0.

After Chris Bourque put the Bears on the penalty kill just under seventeen minutes, Bracken Kearns would take advantage of the Devils power play and give Binghamton a 2-0 lead. The Hershey Bears would then pull Vanecek for the extra man advantage, which would quickly backfire when Kevin Rooney got his eleventh goal of the season, scoring on the empty net. This loss would give Binghamton goalie Mackenzie Blackwood his seventh win of the season and second shutout in 2017-18.

Binghamton outshot Heshey 33-18. Hershey’s record is now 25-28-4-5 putting them farther down in the standings for the season.

Hershey will host the Calder Cup Grand Rapids Griffins Sunday afternoon at 5pm.
